Fans of Glasgow’s most anticipated new food, drink, and entertainment venue are being asked to contain their excitement just a little longer, as global shipping delays push back the expected opening of Clydeside Containers to August. A banner announcing the opening was unveiled on the Broomielaw this morning.

The venue, constructed entirely from upcycled shipping containers at 61 Broomielaw, has been hit by delays in the international shipping network—specifically the transport of containers from China to Grangemouth—slowing progress on-site.

Despite the holdup, anticipation is building for what promises to be a game-changing addition to Glasgow’s riverside. With street food, live music, cocktails, comedy and independent retail all set to pop up in one colourful, curated destination, the team behind Clydeside Containers is urging the public to hold tight.

Nathan Sparling, Director, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the buzz around Clydeside Containers—and we share everyone’s frustration at having to wait a few more weeks. But global shipping is outside even our control. The good news is that everything’s now full steam ahead, and we’ll be ready to throw open the container doors before the summer is out. This delay is just more time to build the hype—and believe us, it’ll be worth the wait.”

With key venue infrastructure now en route and summer programming already in motion, the team promises regular updates as the final containers arrive and construction ramps up.

In the meantime, Glaswegians are encouraged to stay connected via @clydesidecontainers on Instagram for the latest news, lineup reveals, and exclusive sneak peeks behind the scenes.

So until August, all that’s left to do is… contain yourself.
